  • What holds the Carbon Offset Charge?
    The Carbon Offset Charge is an average of calculating carbon emission within the following areas: - Transport - Packaging - Manufacturing - Locally Crafted Business - the use of the platform, our services and energy required to make it available. - Supporting projects by buying ACCUs Each component is good for a certain value. This value is not set in stone, and will be adjusted over time, depending on the changes within each component. At this stage they are set at: - Transport & Packaging - $0.17 - Manufacturing - $0.18 - Locally Crafted Business - $0.16 - Supporting projects by buying ACCUs - $0.21 Total: $0.72 The charge of $0.72/item will be split over different projects linked to the source of carbon emission. The value of the Transport & Packaging will be invested in projects that are reducing carbon emission within the Transport and Packaging Industry. This can be ie. in projects searching for more sustainable packaging. Locally Crafted Business percentage will go to Household projects, decreasing our carbon footprint.     Circular Economy is a fairly new production and consumption model that ensures sustainable growth. Circular Economy drives the optimisation of resources, reduces the consumption of raw materials and recovers waste by recycling the product or giving it a second life as a new product. It involves sharing, leasing, reusing. repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible. It is a systematic approach to economic development designed to benefit businesses, society and the environment. In contrast to the 'take-make-waste' lineair model, a circular economy is regenerative by design and aims to gradually decouple growth from the consumption of finite resources.

    Zero-Waste Production means designing and managing products and processes to reduce the volume and toxicity of waste and materials, converse and recover all resources, and not burn or bury them. Up-cycling is a form of recycling where instead of turning waste into new materials, you take the product as it is and that you would otherwise throw away, and give it a new use in life. An existing product / waste is turned into a new product of a higher value.
